Hummingbirds!!

I just saw my first hummer of the season, and I don't mean the car! If you've never sat and watched hummingbirds before, then you can't possibly understand my obsession with them. They are amazing little birds and so fun to watch. I was afraid that we might not attract them this season. We used to see them all the time at the other house. Rian joked that we needed to leave them a note to let them know that we moved! I check www.hummingbirds.net every spring to watch their migration so I know when to expect them. I've been waiting for the past 2 weeks to see one on my feeder. Today was the day!! I'm off to give them fresh nectar!!

Blue Jays, Blue Jays everywhere!

Our backyard is FULL of bluejays. At any one time there has been 10-15 blue jays on the ground around our feeder, on the feeder, and on the birdbath in our backyard. There are also tons of them in the trees. We had a lot of bluebirds at the other house, but here the bluejays are just thick!! I need to try to get a picture but it's hard because they fly away as soon as I go outside.

Doggie Drama

Well we had some drama around here last night. Biscuit was acting like she didn't feel good and she would yelp if you touched her head. She wouldn't eat and was just laying around acting kind of lethargic. Rian picked her up and started holding her and she was breathing really shallow and quickly. We decided to call Dr. Bradley and he said we needed to bring her in. We loaded up in the car and headed out. When we got there Dr. Bradley checked her over and he said her lip was really swollen and her lymph glands were starting to swell and her muzzle was very tender. He suspected a sting by a wasp or a hornet. Dr. Bradley got to looking closer and found she was stung on her muzzle by her nose. There was even blood. You could tell it was really hurting her. They gave her two shots to stop the reaction and we brought her home. She was zonked!! This morning she seems to be back to her old self, thank goodness!!

Caitlin is doing good.. growing like a weed!! She likes to say 'uh-oh' and she even tries to say Biscuit, but it comes out more like 'Bi-it'. It's much easier for her to sign 'dog'. We've been taking music classes on Tuesday mornings. She was really shy the first two classes, but she's finally starting to warm up. Her favorite part is when they get out the rhythm sticks. She really likes banging with those. She's not very happy when we have to put them away. She has also discovered the fun of throwing things into the toilet. We have to be really careful to keep the bathroom doors closed now. Little stinker!!

We had some pictures taken at Sears last week. She wasn't super cooperative, but here are a couple of them:
